Our sales coach staff of Irene, Dennis and John continue to work hard in our main fund raising and publicity section. The large car park banner has been re-erected, some inside layout changes have been carried out and the publicity material has been updated.
Nigel has lapped the steam valve after re-machining and fitted it back in the pedestal. He then finished the sanding valve and cylinder cocks.
Alan has machined the steel squares that go on the steam valves on the main manifold. He’s now started fabricating a completely new reverser locking lever, which has been quite a challenge.
Stuart and Dave have continued work on the cylinder end cladding and cylinder covers.
Phil has worked on the oil feed lines and now all the cylinder oil and lubrication runs are primed and working.
Jimmy, Dave and Dan continued work on the Ivatt, which is now ready for dismantling. The plan is to lift off the boiler first.
Alan is battling on with tidying the stores and getting some order in the workshop.
The last pipe cone fitting for the steam heat pipework has been started by Richard.
We’ve now received the final grate support bars from Severn Valley and Dave, Nigel, Jimmy and Harry have worked on and completed the rocking grate assembly.
Mark, Colin, Jim and Hughie have continued with the painting / sanding and more coats of undercoat have been applied.
The last length of 2” copper pipe has been bought (yes there’s always money to be spent !!) and this has been bent and fitted in position as part of the cab steam heat system.
Our colleagues in the wagon section have visited regularly and we’ve been able to assist them with the machining of various brackets and hardware.
