January saw two busy weekends with the ELR running packed trains pulled by the Flying Scotsman loco. We had a big publicity drive with an extra notice board on platform 3 and our BS4G flyers and info packs distributed in all the trains that were running. Our shop coach staff were kept extremely busy and the weekends raised some much needed funds for the loco.
Sharon has painted the new storage board which has now been used for hanging the lifting slings.
Jim continued the priming of the cylinder covers and he and Hughie have been priming the boiler cover plates.
Harry has carried on with the final checking of the all the securing split pins, locking washers and fixings assembled on the frame.
Alan has made improvements to the sink area with a new work surface top and the fitting of a hot water boiler. He has made new coat racks and a bench in the store room.
Connor has fitted the speedometer sender unit.
Bob has been making the final fittings to the lockers in the cab.
The pipework for the superheater assembly has now been ordered.
Final assembly dimensions have been sent to the boiler repair company to complete the boiler’s refurbishment.
