Late June Update

Saturday, 28th June, 2025

80097:

Fitting up for a steam test continues. Lots of gaskets to cut, lots of flanges to make. Thanks to all our team involved.

46428:

Boiler lift is scheduled for late July. The ex Mk 1 bogie is being prepared to accommodate the boiler inverted and allow it to be taken inside our workshop.

The workscope will take years, as it is funding related.

As we raise money, or have it donated, we will contract out the work as its cost can be covered. Being inside the work can be carried out in all weathers. We hope this will speed up the process.

The loco had only one brake beam when it was brought to Bury. The fabrication of the additional two is progressing well.

Two, pre-cut metal slabs were obtained and the stub ends, which will sit in the brake hangars on either side are being welded into place.
