Late August Update

Monday, 25th August, 2025

80097:

Over the last few days the loco has been slowly warmed and on Friday it was up to operating pressure. As can be expected there were a few little niggles to sort out but we

are pleased to report that the engine will be ready for its steam test in the presence of our Insurance Engineer on Tuesday 26th August.

Our sincere thanks go to all of our supporters who have contributed to the process of the major retube and preparation for return to service. We would also like to thank the

ELR for their support and invaluable contributions.

Our thanks also to NYMR for the loan of the regulator valve assembly whilst we are having our new valve cast, it is much appreciated.

Wish us luck for the steam test?

46428:

The main activity has been the erection of a working scaffold to give access to the foundation ring on the drivers side of the inverted firebox. This has been done in such a

way as to ensure safe access and egress to and from the workshop and also to minimise the work when the "Trolley" needs to be moved outside. Work will commence

shortly on the removal of the numerous rivets around the foundation ring.

Machining of the first of our two new brake beams is almost complete.

Vanwide:

Keith & Co. are making strides on the restoration of this vehicle which is being brought back from the dead after years literally in the undergrowth!  After a major clean up and

preparation the floor is now in place and the roof covering is also at the site and has now been fitted. Well done gentlemen!
