Progress continues as parts are fitted into the cab and steam pipework is started.
Allan welded a brake bracket for the wagon group and machined the cylinder cock handle.
It was an ELR Diesel Gala on the weekend 7th / 8th March and our shop staff were again busy, raising £250.
The damper controls have now been finished and also the two piston rod lube pots.
Harry has fitted locking cotters to the fireman's side rear crosshead securing bolts and then checked both crosshead sets of bolts. He then started fitting the taper pins into the steam controls in the cab.
Nigel has been fitting gaskets and gland packing to the steam valve, blower valve and sanding controls in the cab.
Allan and Sharon reprofiled the pipework to the driver's pedestal. Sharon then painted the gauge frame bracket and regulator bracket, before carrying on with the drawings filing.
Nigel Barnes started on parts for the main steam pipes.
Stuart has finished off the cab window deflector panes and these are now ready for glass.
Jeannie started turning steel for the main steam pipe ends and the lenz rings.
Jimmy, Alan and Dan moved the flat and storage wagons down the track ready to put the old boiler on. This will make space for the Ivatt loco chassis to be brought next to the workshop, ready for making a start on.
Phil has sorted out the problem with the right hand lubrication pipes.
We've now started bending the main steam pipes, using a bending jig for the annealed copper pipes.
A group of East Lancs Railway new members visited the workshop and were quite impressed with our activities.
