BR Standard Class 4 mt 2-6-4 T No 80097
The East Lancashire Railway started running trains on the weekend 8th August. This was on a limited basis of three steam trains per weekend day from Bury to Rawtenstall, with a diesel multiple unit service to Heywood.
80097 has been the main loco on these services, with our Group members carrying out the bulk of the maintenance backed up by ELR loco staff.
Ivatt ‘Mogul’ Class 2 MT 2-6-0 No 46428
Some limited work has restarted on the Ivatt. This includes painting of stripped assemblies.
We have obtained new steel side panels for the cab and a drag bar valance, which will now be welded. Also we have a new cab roof supporting bar.
Wagons
Our wagons team have continued to maintain and repair our wagons stock. An L & Y coal tar tanker has been completed and they have now started to refurbish an L & Y coal wagon.
Shop Sales Coach
As the ELR is only running a reduced roster with limited, controlled access to the station, our Shop Sales Coach remains closed, which is still severely restricting our fund raising.
We have taken the opportunity to carry out housekeeping and maintenance on our Sales Coach. Some old walkway decking has been replaced and also work on the storage coach roof to make it waterproof, cleaning and painting the inner roof, painting the exterior of the coach and erecting additional storage shelves. More shelves are planned to increase our storage and organisational facilities.
