The surface grinder was disconnected and moved on rollers out of the shed ready for collection by the East Lancashire Railway engineering department. The surface grinder has been sold to them, it was deemed surplus to requirements.
The engine 80097 will have to be moved shortly from Baron Street works back down to our own shed to have the smokebox removed ready for it to be transported with the new boiler sections and the firebox to our contractor. It is hoped the boiler and it’s component parts will be on their way by the 4th. November 2014.
Work will then concentrate on the rolling chassis of 80097 to finish off the numerous outstanding works.
Fire bars are still available to buy for the engine from our shop at the end of platform 1/2 in Bury Bolton Street Station, you will receive a certificate thanking you for your contribution.
Please come and visit us in the shop, there is plenty to see, if you have any unwanted items, books, magazines, jigsaws etc. bring them down to the shop, all that we sell goes into the restoration pot.
