January 80097 Update

Sunday, 15th January, 2023

Our workshop team, working with ELR engineering staff,  have now removed all the condemned large boiler tubes (flues) after previously removing the main steam pipes, gauges and other necessary parts. The new pipes are expected to be delivered to us in February and the aim is for 80097, which is currently in the ELR Baron Street loco shed to be back in steam in the spring.

Our 'Sponsor A Tube' appeal continues and we have now raised the funds to pay for all the small tubes that failed earlier in the year and the first of the larger flues. Our fund raising will continue towards the total replacement target of £40,000.

We have had a fantastic response from all our Supporters and we are very grateful to all who have and who continue to donate to this appeal.      A sincere big 'thank you' to you all.

Don’t forget that while there are no trains running on the ELR, our Shop coach is open on Saturdays only from 1100 to 1600. Come down and see us.
