BR Standard Class 4 2–6–4 T No 80097
80097 has been a mainstay in the ELR rosters and has run regularly since the railway reopened on the 1st May.
She has run both service and dining trains and with the start of the midweek diners on the 17th June has been in action every day now that the railway is on five day running.
A highlight was on the 17th June, when the six coach dining train was coupled onto the five coach standard train. 80097 then hauled all eleven coaches up to Rawtenstall with the loco crew very pleased with her performance.
Our thanks go to the small team of Alan, Carl and Matt who are maintaining her performance.
Ivatt ‘Mogul’ Class 2 MT 2-6-0 No 46428
Whilst the covid restrictions continue there has still no progress been able to be made on our Ivatt loco.
Freight Restoration Team
The small Wagons team of Keith, Peter, John and Peter continue to work on the L & Y coal wagon and steady progress is being made.
The team has also been working on an L & Y carriage, which they were asked to help restore for the L & Y Trust.
Our Workshop
Work has continued on the 1946, 55 foot bogie bolster ‘D’ and it is expected that this will be completed in the next month.
Shop
Our fund raising Shop coach at the end of platform 2 at Bury Bolton Street station is now open on Wednesdays as well as every weekend and it’s great to see our supporters returning to visit us.
We have had some access problems, caused by the covid restrictions which the ELR has had to apply and the entrance to the Shop is now via the large gate at the end of the station car park.
Improvements have been made including a new railway picture gallery.
